My favorite night bar in KC. The service is great. The bartenders are really friendly and quick. If your nice to them they will take care of you. They all have great beards. They make me look like an amateur beard person. The guitarist/harmonica player who played last night was a legend. Before he went on he was making out with a girl then rocked his heart out. He is an inspiration to many.

East Coast gal visits Kansas City for work. She loves dive bars, live music, quirky places, and good conversation. All those things she found at Westport Saloon!
Loved this place so much that I went back a second night during my short stay in KC. I popped in here my first night in town after I had been running around playing tourist all day. I was so exhausted and told myself "just one drink." Famous last words, right? I honestly didn't think I'd even make it long enough for the band to come on but that quickly changed when I made friends with bartender Stephen as well as some of his friends/patrons that set up shop next to me. We talked about anything and everything including the recent Philly Iggles victory! The band came on and I was still there shooting the shit with everyone. Every time I was asked if I wanted another drink, I'd respond with I SWEAR THIS IS THE LAST ONE! That happened 4 times I think lol. Everyone was ridiculously nice and it was just a really awesome laid back, down home type of place with good music to boot!
3 nights later, my final night in KC, and I came back after stopping at Extra Virgin and Julep. I knew I just wanted that low key vibe again. The bartender on duty this time around (Kayla?) was equally as awesome as Stephen. Had a great time chatting with her and again other patrons at the bar! It's the kind of place where you just start chatting up people around you and just have a great time. Met a guy who was in town for his daughter's college graduation so it was super fun to hear about his family. Awesome music came on again and I stayed way later than I had intended to, but this place is just fantastic.
I so wish we had a Westport Saloon in DC, this place is so right up my alley. Thanks for the good times! -

Best spot in Westport. The best time to go is when there is live music. Westport Saloon is set up perfectly for when the live music is there to enjoy. You can watch them or dance near the stage, then hear them throughout the whole place. The mac n cheese is amazing and the beer and bourbon selection is good. I'm going to keep coming back to the Westport Saloon.

Went on a Saturday night and there was live music. The music was good, but the band was definitely missing the bantering/interaction with the audience between songs. This bar is definitely one of the more casual and dive-y bars in the area. Nothing wrong with the bud light I ordered :)
